Game Recap

The 8th grade basketball Lakers continued their undefeated season Wednesday, this time taking a victory from the Allendale Falcons at home. Spring Lake had to fight off a slew of 3 pointers by Allendale in the second half to squeek out a 48-38 victory. The game was much closer than the final score shows, as Allendale just wouldn’t go away. Hunter Throop led the scoring with 17 points, followed Evan McDermott with 9 and Jackson Core with 7 points. McDermott burried two 3-pointers, while Ian Hill and Travis Throop each nailed one. The Lakers passed the ball well, as Kaden George handed out 4 assists.

Game Recap

The 8th grade basketball Lakers continued their undefeated season Wednesday, this time taking two wins from the Allendale Falcons at home. In game 1, Spring Lake defeated the Falcons 37-26. Tyler TenBrink and Keegen Fritsche each hit 3 pointers for the Lakers. Jacob Barnes scored 4 points and added 3 rebounds, Christian Folkert scored 4 points, and Hunter Malaski had a great passing game, dishing out 2 assists. As a team, the Lakers were great on the boards, limiting the Falcons to very few second chance baskets.

Game Recap

The 7th Grade Boys Basketball team was on the road for their third straight game – this time splitting games at Allendale. In the second game, the Lakers used a 17 point 3rd quarter to pull away for a 47-21 victory. Blake Grimmer led the Lakers with 14 points, while Alex Lee added 8. Max Brown and Eli Tosterud each added 5 points including a 3-pointer a piece. The Lakers remain undefeated at 3-0 for the season.

Game Recap

The 7th Grade Boys Basketball team was on the road for their third straight game – this time splitting games at Allendale. In the first game, the Lakers and Falcons battled back and forth through two overtimes until Allendale came away with the 16-18 victory. The Lakers were led by Nick Flechsig who played an overall great game with 4 points and many rebounds. Jack Duggins and Noah Fox each added 4 points, while Brayden Stone knocking down a tough basket. The Lakers are now 1-2 on the season.

Game Recap

The Lakers ran out to a 25-1 first half lead enroute to a 39-18 win. Great team defense and passing helped the Lakers to another convincing victory. 10 Lakers scored, including Alex Powers, who called “bank” on his first quarter 3 pointer. K-Cee Degen dished out 5 assists, Brendan O’Donnell scored 5 points, and Sterling Sieracki added 4 points and a blocked shot.

Game Recap

The 8th grade basketball team showed guts and composure Monday night at home against the visiting teams from Cedar Springs. In game one, the Lakers were victorious 36-29. Down by two at the half, the Lakers had to rely on great free throw shooting and defense to take the win. As a team, the Lakers shot 74% from the stripe. Porter Saunders had a huge game, leading the Lakers with 12 points, 5 points, and 4 steals. Kaden George tallied 7 points, including 5 for 7 from the line. Evan McDermott nailed a huge 3 pointer, and Ian Hill knocked down 2 cluth free throws in the 4th quarter.

In the second game, the Lakers stood up to the task of handling Cedar Springs’ full-court pressure only to fall in the end 17-18. The Lakers were led by Reese Robson, Noah Fox, and Jack Duggins with 4 points each. Cornel Rauwerda-Esprit added a 3-pointer for the second straight game, and Gabe May chipped in 2.

The Lakers were led by Blake Grimmer with 17 points. Derrick Paggeot had a great game on the inside adding 16 points, while Alex Lee scored 12. Conrad Bush played some great defense and chipped in 4 points.
