Spring Lake dominates host Hudsonville, 19-3

Spring Lake Girls Varsity Lacrosse, currently undefeated in the O-K Div. 2 Conference, ranked #13 in the state overall and #1 in defense state-wide, took on Hudsonville Friday evening. The Lakers emerged victorious, 19-3, employing seamless teamwork with exceptional passing, draw control, and defense.

Senior captain Grace VandenBosch led the Lakers defensively, with the most recovered ground balls and an overall solid performance. She was joined by Grace Nass, Lauren Galloway, Erika Ippel and Alexia TenBrink in shutting down the Eagles’ offensive efforts.

The Lakers showcased a balanced, patient scoring attack featuring a lot of dodging and assists. Goals were scored by: McKenzie Ely (5), Meg Ready (3), Kate Vinkemulder (3), Josie Brown (2), Reiko Johnson (2); and Kailey Cleveland, Julia Clover, Jillian Gable, Madison Kaurich, each with one goal. Vinkemulder led in assists with four.

At halftime, the score was Spring Lake 13, Hudsonville 2.

Goalies Paris Heard and Lauren Sharp shared the win in the net.

The Lakers host Zeeland on Monday, May 15 at 7:00 pm for Senior Night. They wrap up regular season play vs. Comstock Park at home on Wednesday, May 17 at 4:00 pm.
