Spring Lake High School
Forest Hills Central High School
The Lakers put up an extraordinary effort against the 9th ranked team in Division 1 on Tuesday night when they fell short to the Forest Hills United team by just 10 points 98-88. The visiting Lakers had a depleted team with just 14 swimmers to the 31 for the home team from Forest Hills. The Lakers put up 3 victories in all 3 relays and the Laker Divers continued their dominating performances in dual meets with a sweep of 1,2,3 by Noah Locascio, Casey King, and Gavin Devries. Cam Peel swept the sprint freestyle events in winning both the 50 and 100 free. Joey Wachter won the 100 backstroke with a 3rd fastest performance in SL history and less than ½ second from the SL school record. Drew Fogel took second and came through with a personal best ever 500 freestyle and 4th fastest ever in SL history with a 5:04.34 time. âForest Hills school size when you consider they draw from 3 different school systems is over 4 times the size as us and the Lakers competed against them as well as they have done all year. Drew and Joey, and Cam and KJ Losee had some really great performances. To come just 10 points short of a team as good as they are is a tremendous accomplishment and the boys should feel really good about how they rose to the occasion. We had some exceptionally close races and this was one fun meet to watch.â Said Coach Rob Peel.
